ANNE LEON

Anne M. Leon, 80, of Cross Creek Road in Wellsburg, died on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Fairmont General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Anne was born on December 7, 1933 in Follansbee, WV and was the youngest of eight children of the late Anna and John Lupinetti.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, William “Jay” Leon Sr.

Anne graduated from Follansbee High School in 1951. She and her husband, Jay, operated Valley Market on Cross Creek for more than 30 years. She was an active member of St. Anthony’s Church in Follansbee her entire life. She sang in the church choir, was a member of several women’s church groups over the years, and helped with funeral luncheons.

She was active in her retirement, traveling to visit her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and maintaining the grounds around her home. Anne was an extremely hard and joyful worker and put her best effort into everything that she did. She left a treasure for her family and friends of a life well-lived.

She is survived by her sons, William J. Leon Jr. Esq. and wife Alison of Morgantown, John A. Leon MD and wife Marcy of Fairmont, James T. Leon DDS and wife Mary of Powell, OH; and daughter, Felicia Leon-Driscoll and her husband Daniel of South Bend, IN. She is also survived by 13 loving grandchildren: William J. Leon III of Pittsburgh, PA, Kate Leon of Boston, MA, Johnny, Camille, Isabella and Joseph Leon of Fairmont, Nicolette and Luke Leon of Powell OH, and Paddy, Clare, Jack, Liam, and Maeve Driscoll of South Bend, IN. She is also survived by her sister, Bertha Julian of Weirton and brother Tony Lupinetti of Wintersville, OH; and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Ricci of Follansbee, Edith Graf of Tomah, WI, Helen Boffo of Columbus, Ohio; and brothers, Ben Lupinetti of Wellsburg and Chase Lupinetti of Follansbee.

Friends will be received at Mullenbach Funeral Home, 669 Main St. in Follansbee, WV on Sunday from 1-9 p.m. Vigil services will be held on Sunday at 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, June 30th at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 1017 Jefferson St., Follansbee, WV with Msgr. Paul Hudock as celebrant. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Follansbee.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at 1017 Jefferson Street, Follansbee , WV 26037.

Anne M. (Lupinetti) Leon, 80, of Wellsburg, WV, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Fairmont General Hospital in Fairmont, WV.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 29th from 1-9 p.m. at the Mullenbach Funeral Home, 669 Main St., Follansbee, WV.
