Bernard F. Speaker, 89, of Wheeling, WV, died Thursday, June 26, 2014 in Liza’s Place.

He was born July 21, 1924, in Wheeling; a son of the late Francis and Bernadette Heil Speaker.

Bernie was a former employee of Ohio County Schools, a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Wheeling, the American Legion Post #1, an Army Air Corps veteran of WWII.

In addition to her parents, he is preceded his wife, Betty J. Snodgrass Speaker; two sisters, Betty Bernhardt and Jean LeFlam.

Surviving are his children, Pat Speaker and his wife Amy, Kurt J. Speaker and his wife Elaine, Michael L. Speaker and his wife Rosemary, Susan A. Speaker, Tracy L. Roth and her husband Jason all of Wheeling; one sister, Rosemary Buzzard of Wheeling; 11 grandchildren, Mickey Speaker, Michael Speaker, Amanda Speaker, Zackary East, Patrick Speaker, Grayson Speaker, Hunter East, Annarenee Speaker, Logan Roth, Isabella Roth and Emersyn Roth; two great-grandchildren, Jax Patrick and Meckenzi; several nieces and nephews.

Friends received 1-8 p.m. Friday at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014 in Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Wheeling, with Rev. Dennis Schuelkens as celebrant.

Interment in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
