Emma N. Thompson Hoge, 97, of Wellsburg passed away Sunday June 1, 2014 in Brightwood Center, in Follansbee. She was born February 1, 1917 Dunn’s Station, PA to the late Joseph and Jessie Fonner Thompson.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Neal Hoge, a brother Luther F. Thompson, an infant son, Latimer Joseph Hoge, and by her aunts Emma and Myrtle Fonner, who raised her and her brother following the death of their parents.

She married Neal Hoge May 9, 1942 in Alexandria , LA.

She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Wilson of Wellsburg, two sons Robert (Linda) Hoge of Weirton and Mark Hoge of Wellsburg; grandchildren Kenneth Wilson of Wellsburg and Adeline (Matthew) Apesos of Atlanta, GA, and two great-granddaughters McKinley Ruth and Kathryn Apesos both of Atlanta, GA.

Long time member of the Wellsburg First Christian Church, she served for many years as the secretary of the Loyal Daughters’ Class and as deaconess.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday June 4 from 2 p.m. until time of funeral service at 4 p.m. at Reasner Funeral Home, 1515 Charles St. Wellsburg. Interment will be at Spring Hill Cemetery, Joseph’s Mills, WV.
