Emma Lou Vargo Kulpa, 93, of Warwood, WV, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, June 8, 2014, after a short stay in Peterson Hospital, Wheeling, WV.
She was born on December 29, 1920, in Martins Ferry, OH, the daughter of the late Charles and Juliana Toth Vargo.
Mrs. Kulpa was a 1939 graduate of Triadelphia High School, and was a sales associate for 35 years at the former Stone & Thomas Department Store, Wheeling.
A woman of faith, Mrs. Kulpa was a member of the Warwood Presbyterian Church, where she served as deaconess, elder, and Sunday school teacher in the children’s department. She was also a long-time member of Church Women United and the Perryman Class.
In addition to her work in the church, she was also active in the Warwood Civic League and the Child Study Group, and was a long-time supporter of the Salvation Army and a faithful bell ringer. She was a true worker who loved life and the people all around her; she was a friend to many, and will be missed by those whose lives she touched.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew S. Kulpa; three brothers, Frank, Alex, and Bill Vargo; three sisters, Helen Phillips, Ethel Zarnoch (her twin), and Joan Kovacevich.
Mrs. Kulpa is survived by one son, Thomas Richard Kulpa of Warwood; one brother, Charles Vargo of Wheeling; several nieces and nephews, and many beloved friends and neighbors.

Friends will be received Wednesday, June 11, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Kepner Funeral Home, Burke Chapel, 2101 Warwood Avenue, Wheeling, WV 26003 (304-277-2722) where services will be held Thursday, June 12, 2014, at 10 a.m. with Rev. David Bruce officiating.
Interment in Park View Memorial Gardens.
