Melvin Maynard, 64, of Sardis, OH, died Monday, June 23, 2014, at his home.
He was born February 3, 1950, in Holden, WV, a son of late Lester and Lorrain Brown Maynard.
He was employed by Ohio Valley Coal, Murray Energy, Catholic by faith, a U.S. Army Vietnam War Veteran and a member of the VFW Post 9930, Duffy, OH, and American Legion Post 760, Hannibal, OH.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lester Eugene Maynard.
Survivors include his wife, Veda Maynard; one son, Shawn (Lyndsay) Maynard of Shadyside, OH, and special granddaughter, Emma Maynard; a daughter, Michelle Maynard of Chapmanville, WV; and grandson, Zack Maynard; a special step daughter, Donielle (Steve) Priddy of St. Albans, WV and step-grandson, Jacob Priddy; three brother, Marvin (Theresa) Maynard of Logan WV, Charlie Maynard of Chapmanville, WV and Lester Maynard of Myrtle Beach, SC; three sisters, Carla, Debbie, and Kathy; two special nieces, Kellie (Larry) Lucas and Kaylee Maynard.
Family will receive friends on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Grisell Funeral Home, 37234 Mound St., Sardis, OH. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
