JOSEPH KOSAR

Joseph Kosar, 89, of Wheeling, WV, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at his home.

He was born September 30, 1924, in Boggs Run, WV, son of the late Antal and Mary Sako Kosar.

Mr. Kosar was retired from the former Picoma Industry, Martins Ferry, OH, where he was a crane operator. He was a WWII Navy Veteran, where he was a member of the Navy Scouts and Raiders. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1, and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Wheeling, WV.

He enjoyed bowling and fishing and playing Euchre. He was very proud of his family and especially loved watching his grandchildren participate in their many activities.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Rose Ambrose and Margaret Kosar.

Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, Phyllis E. Sunafrank Kosar; four sons, Joe W. Kosar and his wife, Beth of Wheeling, WV, David A. Kosar of Alexandria, VA, Ralph “Skip” Kosar and his wife, Tammy of Shadyside, OH, and Mark D. Kosar and his wife, Kim of Stow, OH; a brother, Anthony Kosar of Warwood, WV; seven grand-children, Brooke Preston, Breanne Pompey, Lundyn Fries, Kristyn Fetcko, Luke, Matthew, and Justin Kosar; four great-grandchildren, Aiden and Carter Preston, Tucker Pompey, and Marley Fries; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, July 4, 2014, at the Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger Street, Elm Grove, Wheeling, WV (304-242-2311), where Funeral Rites will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2014, with the Reverend John Mulcahy officiating.

Entombment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Wheeling, WV.

Moundsville Veteran Honor Guard will conduct military graveside services.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Ohio Valley Affiliate, 162 Court Street, Charleston, WV 25301; or to the American Cancer Society, 122 South High Street, Morgantown, WV 26501.
