MARY SAFFEL

Mary Marty Saffel, 81, of Sardis, OH, died Monday, July 7, 2014, in the Woodsfield Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Woodsfield, OH.

She was born July 26, 1932, in Monroe County, OH, a daughter of the late George A. Marty and Stella Juanita Barth Fitzgerald.

She was a home maker, Baptist by faith, a member of the VFW Post 9930, Ladies Auxiliary and Secretary of the Sardis Alumni Association for many years. She liked to quilt, grow flowers, and watch the parades, the fall festival, and her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph Leroy, Pfc. Albert E. and James E. Marty; and three husbands.

Survivors include a son, James (Dreva) Early and a daughter, Deborah K. Taylor, both of Sardis; two stepsons, Michael (Jody) Saffel of Gettysburg, PA and James (Laurel) Saffel of Clinton, TN; grandchildren, Robin (Dale Lewis) Whaley of East Bank, WV, Christina and John Early, of Sardis, Joshua and Holly Saffel of Clinton, TN, Michael W. Saffel of GA, Katrina (Bob) Renforth of AL, Kimberly (Allen) Rutherford of GA, Chastity (Michael) Miller of AL; and three great-grandchildren, Lukas and Aiden Whaley, Phoenix Taylor, all of East Bank, WV. Several other step-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Sadly missed by family and friends.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Grisell Funeral Home, 37234 Mound St., Sardis, OH, where services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Cathy Harman officiating.

Burial will follow in West Union Cemetery, Sardis.
