MICHAEL CARROLL

Michael Paul Carroll, 17, of Wheeling, died Thursday, July 3, 2014, at his home.

He was born March 5, 1997 in Wheeling, son of Paul and Linda Heller Carroll.

Michael was CEO/ President/Founder of Michael’s Meanies.

Michael created Terry, the “terrible” tumor, Lily Lymphoma and “Lousy” Louie Leukemia, as a way for kids with cancer to take out their frustrations during treatment for their disease. He has been able to see them delivered in all 50 states and Canada, England, Puerto Rico, Australia and even New Zealand for a total of 100 hospitals.

Michael attended Wheeling Park High School, was a Junior Volunteer at OVMC and was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.

Michael was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Norman H. Heller, Sr., H. Paul (PC) Carroll and an uncle, Norman H. Heller Jr.

Surviving in addition to his parents, are his grandmother, Mary K. Heller of Wheeling; aunt, Jill Heller of Bridgeport; cousins, Darren and Kayla Heller, Drew Heller, all of Bridgeport, Lauren and Ryan Tucker of Bellaire, Rylan and Brynn Heller of Bridgeport; a special friend, Irene Windsheimer of Bridgeport; Godmother, Mary Ellen Regalsky of Martins Ferry, “Brother” Dino; several great-aunts; a great-uncle; many cousins; and many, many friends.

Friends will be received on Sunday, July 6, from 4-8 p.m. and on Monday, July 7 from 1-8 p.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff St., Wheeling.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 8 at 10 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with Rev. Doug Ondeck as celebrant.

Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville, OH.

Vigil services will be conducted on Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

In accordance with Michael’s wishes to continue his dream to give every child with cancer a “Michael’s Meanies,” donations may be made to Michael’s Meanies.
