Long time resident of Pennsboro, WV, Shirley Ann Cottrill, 78, went to Heaven to be with her Lord, on Friday, July 11, 2014, en route to CCMC, Memorial Campus.
Shirley was born June 1, 1936, at her parents’ home on Stewart’s Run near Harrisville, WV, a daughter of the late Audra and Minnie (Moore) Hiley.
In her early years, Shirley worked for the Consumer’s Gas Company of Pennsboro as a secretary.
After the birth of her daughter, Joy, she spent the rest of her life as a loving homemaker for her family. For over a decade, she has volunteered her time as a reader at Creed Collins Elementary School in Pennsboro.
Shirley was a longtime member of Pennsboro United Methodist Church where she was very active. She served as the evangelism team leader and was also a member of United Methodist Women.
In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening vegetables and tending to her many flowers. She loved her small town and will be greatly missed by friends and family.
She is survived by her daughter, Joy Cottrill and husband Derek Banas of Verona, PA; her two grandchildren, Willow and Ivy Banas; her two sisters and their spouses, Sharon and Gary Antel of Wheeling, WV and Laura and Geral Riggs of Colliers, WV, along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jacob C. Cottrill in 1999.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at the McCullough- Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro, WV with the Pastors Kelly Martin and Bill Durst officiating.
Burial will follow in the Harrisville IOOF Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Monday, at the funeral home.
