Dolores Mary Palotay, 79, of Wheeling, W.Va., died Saturday, August 2, 2014, at OVMC surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Wheeling on November 4, 1934, a daughter of the late Joseph Monseur and Edna Elias Monseur. She was a member of Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Wheeling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Anthony Monseur, and sister-in-law, Maryann Monseur.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Rezso Palotay; seven children, Diane Palotay of Wheeling, Jerrie (Greg) Williams of Raleigh, N.C., Ray Palotay of Wheeling, Susan (Harold “Dink”) Jarrett of Wheeling, David (Lisa) Palotay of Tiltonsville, Ohio, John Palotay of Wheeling, and Jeanette (Michael) Rawls of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Edmund Monseur of Vienna, Va., and Michael Monseur of Dayton, Ohio; five grandchildren, Justin Abercrombie, Brandon Abercrombie, Kristen Jarrett, Olivia Palotay, and Julia Palotay; and many nieces and nephews.
She was a truly loving mother and devoted wife. She touched so many lives with her kindness and compassionate ways. She was not only a mother to her own children, but to many others throughout her life. She had a special love for all of her dogs as well.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, for a memorial gathering from 10:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling. A Memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Wheeling with Msgr. Bakhos Chidiac as celebrant.
