JOSEPH DROSIEKO

Joseph J. Drosieko, 88, of Wheeling, WV, died Thursday, August 21, 2014.

He was born March 18, 1926, in Fairpoint, OH, a son of the late Stanley Drosieko and Mary Socha Drosieko Chmiel.

Joe was a 1947 graduate of Wheeling High School, Honorary Diploma from CCHS in 2002, a former employee of Wheeling Island Gaming and a retired employee of C&P Telephone and Verizon Communications, Past 20 year President of the Communications Workers of America, Local 2006, a member of St. Joseph Cathedral, Wheeling, CCHS Boosters, Telephone Pioneers of America, a Merchant Marine during WWII, and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant son, Timothy Drosieko; two brothers, Walter and John Drosieko; two sisters, Camilla Minyo and Blanche Munas; a granddaughter, Christy Ann Dolan.

Surviving is his loving wife of 56 years, Marilou Sorg Drosieko; two sons, Michael (Patricia) Drosieko of Easley, SC, Jay (Amanda) Drosieko of Pawley Island, SC; two daughters, Judith Dolan of Oakley, CA; Terri Drosieko Amend of FL; grandchildren, Lindsay Drosieko and Chad Drosieko, of Anderson, SC; Kate Drosieko and Mary Drosieko of Pawley Island; Randy Dolan of Colorado Springs, CO; Ryan Dolan of Nashville, TN; Cory Amend of FL; a great-granddaughter, Makenna Dolan.

Friends received 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling, where Vigil services will be held at 4:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, August 25, 2014, at St. Joseph Cathedral with Msgr. Kevin Quirk.

Entombment with Military Honors in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
