Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated today at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Proctor.

Julian Nicholas “Jude” Miller, 89, of Proctor, WV, died Monday, August 18, 2014 in Wetzel County Hospital, New Martinsville, WV.

He was born May 14, 1925 in Proctor, a son of the late Nicholas George and Mary Elizabeth Nolte Miller.

Jude was a farmer, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moose Lodge #931 and American Legion Post 28, both of New Martinsville, and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War for which he was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a very strong man, and an avid hunter and card player.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Florence May Riley Miller; and a sister, Wilma Klug.

Survivors include a brother, Hilary Miller; two sisters, Mary (Albert) Hohman and Helen Shutler, all of St. Joseph Settlement, Proctor; numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends and acquaintances.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 751 Third St., New Martinsville, with vigil services at 7 p.m.

Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Proctor, with Fr. Thomas Chacko as celebrant.

Burial will follow St. Joseph Church Cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted by the Moundsville Honor Guard.
