PETER TOMAINO

Peter “Gasper” Tomaino Sr., 89, of Follansbee, WV. passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2014.

Born on August 31, 1924 in Follansbee, WV. He was the son of the late Pete and Mary (Berardelli) Tomaino.

Peter is also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ann Tomaino and Louise Wilever.

Peter was a 1942 graduate of Follansbee High School. He retired from Weirton Steel Corporation where he worked as a machinist in the tin mill.

He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church in Steubenville, OH where he also served as elder, deacon, and trustee for over 50 years.

He was a member of the Steubenville Masonic Lodge 45, the Scottish Rite Valley of Steubenville, The Osiris Shrine Temple of Wheeling, WV, Steubenville Shrine Club, and he was a former scout leader for Troop number 50 in Follansbee, WV, and Troop number 141 of Pleasant Hill in Steubenville, OH, and Lodge advisor for the Order of Arrow the Fort Steuben Council from 1964 to 1968.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Flora (Wingo) Tomaino whom he married on June 1, 1949; two children, Peter G. (Linda) Tomaino Jr. and Mary Beth (Robert) Carpenter both of Follansbee, WV; his brother, Charles (Jan) Tomaino of San Antonio, TX; and his sister, Theresa “Betty” Rea of Follansbee, WV; four grandchildren, April (Nate) Wonsick, Natalie (Matt) Brislin, Clint (Sarah) Carpenter, Alexis Carpenter; step-grandson, Robert Carpenter; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 23rd from 11 a.m. until time of the service at 1 p.m. at the Mullenbach Funeral Home, 669 Main St., Follansbee, WV with Pastor Roger Wayne, officiating.

A private family interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Mingo Junction, OH.
