ROBERT LOWTHER

Robert Andrew Lowther, 86, of Middlebourne, departed this life Saturday, June 25, 2016 in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.

He was born April 12, 1930 in Roane County, the son of the late Andrew Bernard and Grace Everett Lowther.

Bob’s first work was with his father drilling wells. He went on to work for Western Electric, Ormet Corporation and City Services. He retired from the State of West Virginia, where he was an oil and gas inspector.

He continued to oversee his businesses in Middlebourne, Lowther’s Laundromat and Lowther’s Rentals.

He was a member of the American Legion, Post 48, Middlebourne. He was a supporter of WV Boys State and Good Sams Camping Club. He was a member of the Tyler County Planning Commission, and he was a United States Air Force Veteran and a Member of the Middlebourne United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Genelda Morris Lowther in 2014; a son, Andrew R. Lowther; four sisters, Zula Wagoner, Zela Patterson, Levita Hanlin and Sara Nell Mason

Bob is survived by a daughter, Alice Tallman and her husband, Tyrone, Middlebourne; grandchildren, Ashley (Jason) D.?Elia, Maywood, NJ, Curtis (Sarah) Tallman, Sistersville, Lianne (Ronnie) Vancamp, Sistersville, Andrew Lowther, WV and David (Nicole) Lowther, Saint Marys; 12 great- grandchildren.

Family will receive friends Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Furbee Funeral Home, Middlebourne. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, 2 p.m. at the Middlebourne United Methodist Church with Reverend Kathy Ambler officiating. Interment in Middlebourne Cemetery.

Military Rites will be provided by VFW Post 6327, Sistersville; VFW Post 4634, New Martinsville; American Legion Post 67, Sistersville; American Legion Post 86, Paden City; and American Legion Post 28, New Martinsville.
