GEORGE PLESKO

George Plesko, 92, of North Canton, OH, passed away August 25, 2016.

He was born July 31, 1924, in Dilles Bottom, OH, to George and Barbara Mineo Plesko.

George was a retired partner and controller of Buckeye Sporting Goods in Canton, OH; former vice president of Bond Bread Midwest Region; and treasurer of Bowman Medical and Pharmaceutics Corporation.

George was preceded in death by his parents; both brothers, John and Walter; his uncle, Mike Costas;  brother-in-law, Jordan C. Pappas, Esq.; and cousins,  James Cosmides, MD. and Nicholas Cosmides.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Stella; aunt, Mary Costas Hanawalt; sister-in-law, Stella Rettos Pappas;  nephews, Walter, Terry, Rodney, and Robert Plesko and Keith (Susie) Pappas, Esq.; niece, Lynne (Fred) Leif; cousins, Maritsa (Cosmides) and Nick Pastis, MD’s and George (Libby) Cosmides; George J. Cosmides, Ph.D; numerous great-nephews and nieces; and Carol, caregiver extraordinaire.

George was a loving and devoted husband, always promoted education, demonstrated generosity toward the less fortunate, and was officially and unofficially a godfather to many. He was a longtime member of St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church in Canton, OH, and St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church in Wheeling, WV. In addition, he was a member of the Order of AHEPA and secretary for many years.

Visitation was Tuesday, August 30,   2016, at the Kepner Funeral Home, 900 National Road, Wheeling, WV, (304-232-2732) from 6-8 p.m. with Trisagion service at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be 11 a.m., on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church, 2215 Chapline St., Wheeling, WV, 26003 with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either church.
