JOHN HUDSON

John Franklin Hudson, 79, of Bethany, W.Va., passed away August 26, 2016, at Weirton Hospital surrounded by many loved ones.

He was born October 30, 1936, in Hundred, W.Va., to the late Donald and Elizabeth Anderson Hudson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his two brothers, Donald “Caris” and Larry Hudson, and a sister Linda Kay Hudson.

John leaves behind his beloved wife of 58 years, Dixie Joyce Hudson, and four children ,Timothy (Kitty) Elliott, of Bethany, W.Va., RuLetta (Kevin) Minor, Doug (Jackie) Hudson, both of Wellsburg, W.Va., and Rick (Cindy) Hudson, of Bethany, W.Va.; two brothers Eddie (Mary) and Gary Hudson of Fairmont, W.Va.; and a sister, Donna (Wayne) Cole of Fairmont, W.Va., along with 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Johnny retired from Weirton Steel in 1976. He mowed grass for Bethany College for several years after his retirement. John loved to sing. After retiring, he would visit nursing homes and retirement homes and would sing to anyone who would listen. Johnny suffered from dementia and had spent the last several months in Golden Oaks Nursing Home in Follansbee where everyone loved him. Johnny was always a very giving man and he continues to give even after his death.

He had decided to donate his body to WVU Human Gift Registry to try to help with their research program.

A memorial service will be planned at a later time. Arrangements by Reasner Funeral Home, 1515 Charles St., Wellsburg, WV.
