LLOYD MEWHA AND ALICE MEWHA
Lloyd Melvin Mewha, 85, and Alice Louis Briggs Mewha, 82, of Wellsburg, W.Va., passed away together on September 24, 2016, in Monaca, Pa.
Alice and Lloyd were married August 25, 1951, and recently celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary.
Lloyd was born April 18, 1931, in Brooke County, W.Va., to the late Dana and Pearl Manning Mewha. He retired from Brooke County Schools as a Bus Driver and also worked for the Washington Pike Water Service. He was an Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict, a member of the Wellsburg Moose Lodge, and the Bethany Masonic Lodge No. 69 AF&AM as a 32nd degree Mason.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Robert Mewha; and one sister, Rebecca Shinaberry.
Alice was born March 22, 1934 in Caldwell, Ohio, to the late Elba O. and Sarah Retzer Briggs. Alice was a homemaker and a member of the Wellsburg Women of the Moose.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother who raised her, Edna Grace Shaffer Briggs; and one brother, Lloyd “Thomas” Briggs.
They are preceded in death by a granddaughter, Erin Blake.
They are survived by three daughters, William and Suzi Knotts of Economy, Pa., Barb and Ron Cummins of Titusville, Fla., and Joyce and Dave “Etz” Rowing of Wellsburg, W.Va.; one brother-in-law, Gay Shinaberry; six grandchildren, Kodi Moskorisin, Amy Robinson, Jacee Rowing, Bryce Rowing, Kristin Vollrath and Kyle Cummins; and three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial gathering to celebrate their lives will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2016, from 6 p.m. until the time of service at 8 p.m. at Reasner Funeral Home, 1515 Charles Street, Wellsburg, WV, with Matt Robinson officiating.
