SANDRA KNIERIM

Sandra Sue Husk Knierim of Wheeling, WV, passed peacefully on Thursday, October 27, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.

Sandy was born on March 28, 1946 in Waynesburg, PA. She is the daughter of the late Woodrow W. Husk and Freda Wells Husk.

She was a Protestant by faith.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother G. Ronald Husk.

Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Philip G. Knierim; a sister, Barbara (Bill) Biddle of Wilson, NC and two children, Brad (Jennifer) Knierim of Bridgeport, OH and Brian (Stacy) Knierim of Pittsburgh, PA. In addition, seven granddaughters Meghann, Rachael, Lydia, and Eliza Knierim, Janelle, Sophie, and Hailey Knierim and a devoted canine, Casey.

As an adolescent, she volunteered as a 4H sewing instructor and Sunday school teacher.

Additionally, she held the position of Worthy Advisor within the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. Prior to marriage, she managed a Beauty Shop in Carmichaels, PA.

After residing in California and Japan as a Navy wife, she became a resident of Ohio County and began raising her family and volunteering. She was active in the PTA, Florence Crittenton Junior Board and was a reading tutor within the Ohio County Schools. She was a 25 year Volunteer at Wheeling Hospital. Along with volunteering, she was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Sandy enjoyed flowers, gardening, needlework, nature, attending family reunions and family fishing trips to Canada.

Friends will be received on Sunday, October 30, 2016, from 4-7 p.m. at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV, 26003 (304-242- 2311) where services will be held on Monday October 31, 2016 at 1 p.m. with Reverend Margie Carr officiating.

Interment will follow in Greenwood cemetery.
