John William Hogg, 94, of Big Wheeling Creek Road passed away on November 23, 2016, in Wheeling Hospital.
He was born August 25, 1922, the son of the late George and Mary Hunter Hogg.
He lived all his life in the house he was born in, except the two years he served in the Navy.
John was a member at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. He graduated from Sherrard High School; worked and retired from Blaw Knox Foundry after 30 years, and he was a member of the Farm Bureau.
He enjoyed working on his farm his entire life.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Hogg and Robert Hogg; five sisters, Robin Grandstaff, Anna Jones, Edith Knotts, Clara Merinar and Lucy Elliott; and a special niece, Erma Grandstaff Melvin.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Lucille DePasquale Hogg; six children, Judith Stollar (Ron) of Claysville, PA, Margaret Hogg of Wheeling, Thomas Hogg of Simpsonville, SC, Donn Hogg of Wheeling, Nancy Jones (Allen) of Travelers Rest, SC, and Jane Robertson of Wheeling; four grandchildren, including Mark Stollar (Rebecca), Rebecca Johnson (Jeff), Tom Stollar and Jocelyn Reiter; and one great-grandchild, Sophia Johnson.
Friends will be received on Sunday, November 27, 2016, from 1-3 p.m. and 5-7 p.m. at Kepner Funeral Homes, 166 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV, (304-242-2311).
Services will be held on Monday, November 28, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church with the Reverend Alan F. Flaitz officiating. Interment in Halcyon Hills Memorial Gardens.
