ALVEY RUSHTON
Alvey Bertan Rushton, 90, died December 2, 2016, at his home in Naples, Florida.
Alvey was born August 7, 1926, and grew up in New Kensington, PA.
He is survived by his children Joan Horner, her husband, Mike, Virginia Rushton, Robert Rushton, William Rushton and grandchildren, James Sampson, Elizbeth Horner and Allison Hill.
Alvey was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Roy Rushton, mother, Virginia Blanche Hamilton Walker and his first wife, Joan M. Rushton and second, Damaris D. Rushton.
He was Marine veteran of World War II and a graduate from Lehigh University with Bachelors of Science in Engineering. After moving to Wheeling WV, Alvey worked for over 30 years at Valley Camp Coal Company in numerus leadership positions including Executive Vice President. He also served on numerous oversight committees such as the Board of Directors for Davis and Elkins College and First National Bank. Alvey also lived in Gladwyne, PA, worked for Westmoreland Coal as their Vice President of Operations and belonged to The Philadelphia Country Club. In 1992 Alvey retired to Naples, FL, where he eventually passed away at his Audubon Country Club home, overlooking the 5th green and with the beautiful sunsets.
There will be no local services or visitation.
Alvey’s final resting place will be with his Mother and Father in Belle Vernon, PA.
