Audrey Mae Clark Breuss of Wheeling, WV lost her eight year battle with Alzheimer’s on December 30, 2016, in the Valley Haven Nursing Home in Beech Bottom, WV at the age of 89.
She was born on September 7, 1927, having grown up on the South East side of Wheeling Island in Wheeling, WV, with her mom, Lena and step father, Ted Gano who preceded her in death. Her father, John Clark and his wife, Flosie Clark also preceded her in death.
She married the love of her life, James “Jim” Breuss, and they shared 70 amazing years together. They founded and owned Wheeling Fire Extinguisher Service in Wheeling, WV. Audrey and Jim enjoyed traveling and took many trips with their square dancing family, the Wheeling Reelers and was a proud member of the Island Christian Church in Wheeling, WV, which was not just a church, but a her family.
She and Jim had one son, Jim Breuss who preceded her in death in 2003. She is now in heaven not only with her son, but her sister, Tillie Black and best friends, sisters in law, Joanie Breuss, Marge Snodgrass and Rose Mary Taskaline.
She so enjoyed playing Euchre with these friends.
Audrey cherished her husband and her other family members including her daughter in law and best friend, Diane Breuss and twin granddaughters, Stacy Walters (Andy) and Stephanie Goodrich (Jason). Her three great- grandchildren were her most cherished possessions, Gavin James Goodrich, Audrey June Walters and Abigail Celia Walters, and she was an amazing aunt to several nieces and nephews.
She had a love for dancing including clogging and Salsa Aerobics with Rosa.
The family would like to give a special thanks for their love and kindness to the following: Belmont Manor Nursing Staff and Valley Haven Nursing Home Staff who showed so much love and compassion. Also to Amedisys Hospice for all the kind words and comfort during such a difficult time. Finally, the staff at Right at Home for being outstanding and there for us for all our needs.
A celebration of life for Audrey will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St., Wheeling, WV (304-242-2311) with Pastor Judy Bennett officiating. Friends will be received 11 a.m. until the start of the celebration at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling, WV.
