Phillip Edwin Hunter, 69, of Steubenville, Ohio, died Friday March 17, 2017 in Weirton Medical Center.
He was born August 14, 1947 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, the son of the late Lawrence and Gwendolyn Simmons Hunter.
Phillip was a retired supervisor for Columbia Gas of Ohio, a member of Civil Air Patrol of Wheeling, a U.S. Army veteran and a Catholic by faith.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Charles Hunter.
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Jody Eileen Fields Hunter, a son, James A. Hunter of Wheeling, two daughters, Monica Hunter of Wheeling and Samantha Deaton (Christopher) of Dayton, Ohio, two sisters, Shirley King of Charleston, WV, and Alberta Underwood of Avon Lake, Ohio, his mother-in-law, Marie Fields of Bridgeport, Ohio, six grandchildren, Deizune Hunter, Deiseanna Hunter, Erick Thomas, Ea’ron Thomas, Ericka Thomas and Justice Stewart, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 3-6 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling where services will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 11 a.m. with Rev Daniel Mason officiating.
Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
