Charles Mason Dorsett, 91, of Louisville, KY passed away on Nov. 14, 2017. He was born in Thayer, WV on Dec 3, 1925, the son of the late Joseph and Erna Hess Dorsett.
Charles graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1944 and joined the Navy. He was assigned to Bethany College in 1944 and the Pacific Fleet in 1946. After active duty, he returned to Bethany under the V12 program and obtained a degree in Chemistry.
He started his career as a Chemist at Glyco, Inc., but soon moved to PPG-New Martinsville in 1952. He remained at PPG for 33 years in both New Martinsville and St. Charles, LA in 1976 until his retirement in March 1986.
He was a member of the Disciples of Christ and served as Sunday school teacher, Elder, and Church Committee member in various churches in WV, LA, and FL.
Charles married Susie Anderson of Proctor, WV on Oct. 14, 1950. She preceded him in death on Oct. 29, 1983. Survivors include one son, Stephen (Sandy) Dorsett of Louisville, KY and a younger brother, Joseph L. Dorsett of St. Petersburg, FL.
Family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 751 Third St., New Martinsville, WV, where services will be held on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
Interment will follow in Northview Cemetery, New Martinsville.
