MARY LEE POWELL

Mary Lee Powell, 85, of St. Clairsville, Ohio died Monday, January 22, 2018 in Forest Hill Nursing Home.

She was born September 12, 1932 in St. Clairsville, daughter of the late Earl J. and Ora G. Taylor Rice.

Mary Lee was a retired office aide at St. Clairsville Schools and vice president of Powell Construction and Excavating. Her education began in St. Clairsville, graduating from St. Clairsville High School in 1950 prior to enrolling and graduating from The Ohio State University.

She was a member of Thoburn United Methodist Church, a member of TWIG in Martins Ferry, an original member of the Red Devil Moms, and a Brownie leader.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Baden Robert Powell; and a brother, William E. Rice.

Surviving are son, Robert Powell and his wife, Rose of St. Clairsville; three daughters, Cheri Jones and her husband, Bill of Westerville, Ohio, Janice Cochran and her husband, Barry of Creston, Ohio, and Linda Timko and her husband, John of St. Clairsville; eight grandchildren, Emily and Baden Powell, Bradley (Carly) Jones and Bethany Jones, Michelle (Ryan Morton, fiance) Cochran and Shaye Cochran, Evan (Gabrielle Smolenak, fiancee) Timko and Eric Timko; expecting her first great-grandchild any day; nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville, where services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Lee Eilert officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
