Robert E. Mitch, 93, resident of Wheeling, WV, died Monday, January 29, 2018, at Wheeling Hospital.
He was born on August 16, 1924 in Pomeroy, OH, the son of the late Perry Leroy and Freda I. Foss Mitch.
Mr. Mitch graduated from Ohio University in 1950 with a B. S. degree in Civil Engineering, and was a licensed Professional Engineer.
He retired from Columbia Gas Company with 31 years of service, working as an engineer and in a managerial position. He was a proud United States Navy veteran, having served in World War II.
He was an avid golfer, and was a past member of the Oglebay Men’s Golf Club. He also enjoyed photography, winning numerous awards.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mary R. Scines Mitch; one brother, Larry L. Mitch.
Surviving are his two sons, Steven Mitch (Gladys) of Wheeling, and David Mitch (Pam) of Houston, TX; one sister, Julie Ann Houck (Bill) of Marion, OH; two grandsons, Scott Mitch (Daniella) of Katy, TX, and Kevin Mitch (Jennifer) of Huntsville, AL; two granddaughters, Megan Exley (Todd), and Kerry Strauch (Geoff), both of the Pittsburgh, PA, area; eight great-grandchildren, Riley, Cooper, Jon David, Jackson, Collin, Blake Robert, Emily and Kate.

Friends will be received for a memorial visitation on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at the Kepner Funeral Home, Burke Chapel, 2101 Warwood Avenue, Wheeling, WV, 26003 (304-277- 2722).
A private service will be held and interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling, at the convenience of the family.
