Eleanor Lane Engelmeier of Wheeling, WV, died Friday, January, 26, 2018.

She was born March 4, 1928 in Wheeling, the youngest daughter of the late Howard C. and Margaret Hughes Lane.

A registered dietitian, Mrs. Engelmeier was an Administrative Dietitian and Nutritional Instructor at Wheeling Hospital, taking an internship at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. She earned a Bachelor Degree from West Liberty State College and graduate studies from West Virginia University and Franciscan University of Steubenville.

Mrs. Engelmeier was a life member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, belonging to the Christian Mothers; alumnae of Mount de Chantal Visitation Academy; a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary Carroll Council 504; and Wheeling Hospital Auxiliary.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert J. Engelmeier; two sisters, Margaret Ann Lane Snider and Elizabeth Lane King, a niece, Mary Beth King.

Survivors include her brother, John M. (Elizabeth) Lane of Wheeling; nieces, Betsy Lane of Alexandria, VA; Eleanor K. Oldensmith of Long Island NY; Margaux K. Fay of Shelter Island, NY; nephews, Michael F. Lane of Gaithersburg, MD; John J. Lane of Wheeling; six great nephews, Derrick Oldensmith, Thomas Fay, Matthew, Brian, Justin and David Lane.

Family will receive friends Friday from 2-5 p.m. at Grisell Funeral Home, 1 Ridgecrest Rd., Bethlehem/Wheeling, where Rosary Devotions will be held at 4 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 1225 National Rd., Wheeling, with Monsignor Joseph Peterson as celebrant.

Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Michael Catholic Church.

Interment in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
