Lawrence V. “Jake” Salisbury Jr., 94, of New Matamoras, OH formerly of Sardis, passed away Friday, February 2, 2018, at Arbors of Woodsfield.

He was born February 5, 1923 in Fly, OH, the son of the late Lawrence and Bessie Williamson Salisbury.

Jake was a retired employee with Park Tours, had worked at Conalco, and a farmer, a Protestant by faith, a World War II U.S. Army Veteran, and enjoyed wood working.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Maxine Salisbury; three brothers, Leon, Lester, and Edward Salisbury; and five sisters, Betty Ritchie, Cleo “Toots” Salisbury; Helen Ensinger, Eileen Adams, and Ruth Rush.

Survivors include a son, Richard Salisbury of New Matamoras; a brother, Clarence (June) Salisbury of New Matamoras; several stepchildren, nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at Grisell Funeral Home, 37234 Mound Street, Sardis, OH with Eddie Ankrom officiating.

Interment in Sardis Cemetery, Sardis, OH with Military Graveside Services.
