James Robert Pryor, “The Candy Man,” 80, resident of Warwood, Wheeling, WV, died March 4, 2018 at Valley Haven Nursing Home, Wellsburg, WV.
He was born April 19, 1937 in Wheeling, son of the late Charles Wells Pryor and Blanch M. Carney Pryor.
He was a retired clerk of the old Weirton Steel in Weirton, WV. He was also quite active in raising funds for various charities and organizations in the Ohio Valley. He was a former member and treasurer of the Warwood Presbyterian Church. He was an Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Martha Ann Clark Pryor, a brother, Bill Pryor of Edgewood, KY, a sister, Mary V. Pryor Morris of Benwood, WV, a brother-in-law, James Shannon of Sherrard, WV, sisters-in-law Nancy Paulovicks (Jay) of Sherrard, WV, and Earlene Owens (Robert) of Woodsfield, OH, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Wednesday, March 7, 2018 from 2-7 p.m. at Kepner Funeral Home, Burke Chapel, 2101 Warwood Avenue, Wheeling, WV, 26003 304-277-2722 where services will be held Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Colleen Griffith officiating.
Interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
In lieu of flowers contributions are requested to be made to the Ohio County Animal Shelter or the Marshall County Animal Shelter.
