John L. Yeater, 71, of Moundsville died Monday in Wheeling Hospital Medical Park, Wheeling, WV.

He was born September 17, 1946 in Marshall County, WV.

He was a retired disabled U.S. Navy Veteran, having served 24 years; a retired maintenance, part-time RFD carrier, and express mail delivery carrier from the U.S. Postal Service, with over 21 years of service; a 1st Deacon with Cameron Baptist Church; a member of Clouston United Methodist Church; a life-time member of Disabled American Vets and American Legion; and a member of Fleet Reserves; and he enjoyed fishing, watching old Westerns, and cruising the country roads.

He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Yeater; a brother, William A. Yeater; father and mother-in-law, Earl and Relda Wright; and an infant sister, Billie Jo Yeater.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Patty Wright Yeater; a son, John Yeater, Jr. of Moundsville; three daughters, Stephanie (Richard) Harding of Wales; Melissa (Steve) Silen of Baltimore, MD, and Alishia (David) Beckman of Washington Lands; his mother, Thelma Whipkey Yeater of Cameron; two brothers, Michael (Debra) Yeater of Cameron, and Joseph Yeater of Marshall County; a sister, Susan Wright of Hopewell, VA; three grandchildren, Danica, Tommy, and Amanda; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville where funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Larry Richards and Pastor Rodney Hubbs officiating.

Interment in Highland Cemetery, Cameron where the Moundsville Honor Guard will conduct Military Graveside Service.
