BONNIE HABEGGER

Bonnie (Sobray) Habegger passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side in Westerville, OH, May 21, 2018.

Bonnie was born in Wheeling, WV, May 26, 1936. She was a graduate of Warwood High School.

Bonnie served as the first female drum major, a role she cherished for a lifetime. Upon marrying her high school sweetheart, Bill, Bonnie moved to Westerville in 1965 to raise her family and begin her career. She has called Westerville home ever since.

Retired from the Westerville South Athletic Department, Bonnie’s dedicated service to the Wildcat athletics department lives on to this day, as she was an inductee into the Westerville South Wildcat Athletics Hall of Fame.

Bonnie was predeceased by her parents, Dutch and Scotty Sobray; and sister, Beverly Stahl.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Bill Habegger; children, Dr. Kim Habegger (Christopher Andrist) of Denver CO, Beth Habegger, Ken (Kari) Habegger and Dr. Tom Habegger all of Westerville; five beloved grandchildren, Allison (Matt) Watson, Emily (Sam) Bench, Abigail Jeffries, Taylor (Matt) Tweed and Mitchell Habegger; sister, Cathy (Larry) Carpenter; brothers, Richard (Karen) Sobray and Mark (Alice) Sobray; many nieces and nephews; special family friends, Tony Polverini, Lisa (Paul) Coulter and Matt (Joanne) Weekley; and all her Wildcat colleagues from the Westerville South Athletic Department.

In lieu of flowers the family asks Bonnie be remembered through a donation to the Westerville South High School Athletic Boosters, to support the Wildcat tradition of excellence she leaves behind.

The family will receive friends Friday, May 25, 2018, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Moreland Funeral Home, 55 East Schrock Rd., Westerville, OH, 43081, where a service will be held Saturday, May 26, 2018, at 10 a.m. Interment in Blendon Central Cemetery.
