REX LAPP

He was born July 7, 1933, the son of Edwin and Elmina Lapp of Paden City, WV.

He was a 1951 graduate of Sistersville High School. After graduation, he attended West Liberty College, playing both football and baseball for the Hilltoppers. Departing West Liberty, he joined the U.S. Army in 1952 and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.

In 1955, he joined Mobay Chemical Company, retiring in Aug. 1995 after 40 years of service. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Shirley Lapp; sister and brother-in-law, Marion and William Gregory; and brother-in-law, Loran Weekley.

Surviving are his two sons, Brian Lapp (Kimberly) of Washington, PA, and Kevin Lapp of Columbia, SC; three grandchildren, Megan Bell (Alex) of Alexandria, VA, Derek Lapp of Columbus, OH, and Hanna Lapp of Columbia, SC; one great-grandson, Remington Bell of Alexandria, VA; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Weekley; and several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2018, at Furbee Funeral Home, Middlebourne, WV, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018. Interment will follow at the Middlebourne Cemetery.
