WILLIAM FONNER SR.

William “Bill” Franklin Fonner Sr., 77 of Wellsburg, WV, passed away October 19, 2018 at Liza’s Place, Wheeling, WV.

He was born August 1, 1941 in Wheeling, WV, to the late George and Leah Mahan Fonner.

He was a retired electrician for Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp., Army Ranger in the 54th Infantry during Korea, lifetime member of the American Legion where he was the commander for many years, VFW, Bethany Masonic Lodge, Wellsburg Loyal Order of the Moose; and his main hobby was amateur radio.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his son, William “Bill” Fonner Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Elliott Fonner, a daughter, Shari Fonner Buffington and her husband, Paul of Weirton, WV, two brothers, George Fonner and his wife, Phyllis of Warwood, WV and Robert “Bob” Fonner and his wife, Brenda of Wellsburg, WV, six grandchildren, Paul Ryan Buffington and Breona, Zachary Buffington and Jonnielynn Krieger, Thomas and Josiah Buffington all of Weirton, WV, his fur baby, Sasha, favorite nephew, Tom McKitrick and several other nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will be Monday, October 22, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Reasner Funeral Home 1515 Charles St. Wellsburg, WV. Service will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow to New Bethany Cemetery with full military grave side rites by the Ohio Valley Veteran Memorial Squad. Online condolences can be made to Reasnerof Wellsburg.com.
