TWILA “T.J.” BEHRES

Twila Jeane “T.J.” Moore Behres, 80, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on November 7, 2018.

An original “coal miner’s daughter,” Twila was born in Captina, West Virginia on May 10, 1938 to the late Ray R. and Iona (Hudkins) Moore. She graduated from Moundsville High School in 1956, where she earned State accolades and Superior ratings first as a majorette and then Drum Majorette, as well as being voted Homecoming Queen her senior year. Following graduation, she attending West Virginia University and Wheeling Business College.

Twila, or “T.J.,” as she later became known as, led an accomplished life both personally and professionally. She had successful careers as mathematics teacher, an executive assistant at Boeing, a site project manager and nuclear power plant document control supervisor for Bechtel Corporation, and a Vice President for Houston Power and Light. She was a successful real estate Broker and owner of T.J. Behres Realty in Port St. Lucie, Florida, Director on the St. Lucie County Board of Realtors and Port St. Lucie Chamber of Commerce. Later, she became a decorative artist and business owner of Puddleducks, while always being a loving mother and grandmother. She had life-long love of golf, winning championships at many, and loved playing with her daughter and friends at St. Lucie West Country Club.

Twila, “T.J.,” is survived by her daughter, Melissa Ann Behres, and her granddaughter, Marinda Iona Ragsdale. She is preceded in death by her infant sister, Phillis Ann Moore, parents Ray R. and Iona Moore (Hudkins), life-long & best friend Marinda Beebe, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be held at Grisell’s Funeral Home in Moundsville, West Virginia on Friday, November 17, 2018 from 3-4 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life Service. Internment of the cremation urn will be at Northview Cemetery in New Martinsville, West Virginia on Saturday, November 18, 2018.
