Samuel Lee Smith, 86, made his transition on December 1, 2018 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Wheeling WV.

Born November 25, 1932 in Letohachee, Alabama, the son of the late Nathan and Rosie Lee Farmer Smith, Jr.

Samuel Lee was a high school graduate of Lincoln High School in Wheeling, WV in May 1951.

Samuel Lee was a 13 year veteran of United States Air Force serving in Vietnam and Korea. He received the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He received his Honorable Discharge in 1968 as Staff Sergeant. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler and WVU football fan but most important he was a loving and devoted Grandfather.

He was employed as a machine operator for Swisher International until retirement. He was a lifetime member of American Legion, Post 89, Wheeling WV and past Post Commander.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean (Sinclair) Smith, daughter, Lorie Ann Johnson, a brother-in-law, Percy Sinclair, Jr and son-in-law, Timothy Midget.

Surviving are his daughter, Marlene Midget, of Wheeling WV, brother, Nathaniel “Fats” Smith, Detroit Michigan, sister-in- law, Mary Belle (Carroll) Adams of Wheeling, WV; four grandchildren, Timothy Midget, of Wheeling, WV, Paige Midget, of Moon Township, PA, Everett Gray, Jr (Angeline), of Bellaire, OH, Ebony Gray (James) of Wheeling, WV:, ten great-grandchildren, Chaice Truex, Evrahzia Gray, Kijara Ogden, Alorie Pugh, Alahzia Pugh, Aurica Pugh, Enzo Pugh, Kainnan Ramsey, Keyshaun Ramsey, and Jada Paige Midget and nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Wayman AME Church, 1136 Eoff Street Wheeling, WV on Friday, December 7, 2018. Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of home-going service at 1 p.m. with Rev Marcia Allen officiating, and Rev Daniel Mason assisting. Interment will follow at Park View Memorial Gardens, Wheeling, WV.
