Include Wheeling Youths in Planning
Members of a steering committee involved in preparing a new comprehensive plan for Wheeling agreed Monday that while they want new members to join them, only applications from those 18 years of age or older will be considered.
Committee members’ thinking on that is understandable. At the same time, any plan for the future ought to include participation by the very young people who are the future.
Perhaps steering committee members should seek participation in the planning process from a subcommittee of, say, high school students. A report from them could prove very useful in making Wheeling more attractive to young people.
