Scatterday’s Drive Betters Community

Few people we know can be as persistent as Robert “Scat” Scatterday of Wheeling. When he wants something for the good of the community, he simply will not take “no” for an answer.

On Monday night, the Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce provided richly deserved recognition for the many contributions Scatterday has made to Wheeling and the surrounding area. He was presented with the chamber’s Kathy Fortunato Community Service Award.

As is typical of the man, Scatterday’s acceptance speech dealt largely with insisting other people do the real work in many of his projects.

No one works harder than Scatterday for the public good, however. And the quality people who work with him do so because of his leadership.

Among the “hats” Scatterday wears is that of race director for the annual Ogden Newspapers Half Marathon Classic Run and Walk, scheduled for this weekend. We at the Wheeling News-Register and The Intelligencer are familiar with his drive and dedication, and take pleasure in joining the Chamber of Commerce in thanking him.
