Debbie Green Race Fun for Good Cause

Ohio Valley residents frequently mix fun with fundraising for worthy causes. One of the most effective and important activities in that respect is the annual Debbie Green Memorial 5K Run and Walk.

It has become nicknamed “the race for a reason.” That reason, to raise money to fight cancer and to help local victims of the disease, is near to the hearts of many Ohio Valley residents. Since 1998, the race, with Ron Green as its chairman, has done an enormous amount of good. Green named the event after his late sister, who succumbed to leukemia in 1972.

Race weekend events begin at 4 p.m. today at the Heritage Port in Wheeling. Whether you’re an athlete or just want to enjoy the entertainment, good food and fun, it’s a great event – for an excellent cause.
