Setting an Example In St. Clairsville

St. Clairsville-Richland City School District officials have had a ban on use of tobacco products on school grounds for some time. But a few adults insisted on smoking or using smokeless tobacco at some school events.

Now, however, the district has adopted a “100 percent” ban, applying to anyone on school grounds or at school activities.

As school Superintendent Walter Skaggs pointed out, students view adults as role models. Those who used tobacco at school activities were sending the wrong message. Good for school officials for insisting that adults set a good example on tobacco.
