Lawmaker Letting Constituents Down
During the last two regular sessions of the West Virginia Legislature, Boone County residents have not enjoyed full representation. The House of Delegates member handling most of the county has been absent.
Delegate Joshua Nelson, R-Boone, is a member of the West Virginia Air National Guard. In 2013, he missed 367 of the 470 votes taken in the House because he was away for military training. This year, he missed the entire 60-day session.
Mountain State residents support those who serve us in the military. We understand that from time to time, they may have to be absent from civilian jobs.
But Nelson has let his constituents down. If he expects to miss more legislative work, he should resign from the House so someone able to attend sessions can be put in the position.
