∫ To all involved in a special blood drive held last Tuesday at John Marshall High School, in memory of 16-year-old Abigail “Abby” Frohnapfel, who died in August after battling leukemia. The event was held by the John Marshall Blood Drive Club, the Marshall County Childhood Cancer Awareness Group and the Central Blood Bank.

∫ To the Brooke County Animal Shelter, for taking in 14 dogs from a Texas shelter affected by recent flooding in that state, caused by Hurricane Harvey. The Brooke County shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays, if you’re interested in adopting an animal. For more information, call 304-394-0800.

∫ To Marshalls department stores, which opened a new store at the Ohio Valley Mall last week, and celebrated by donating $10,000 to Habitat for Humanity.
