Put Rules to Bed

Federal agencies enforce a variety of rules regarding bedding. For example, mattresses containing used material must be tagged as such. And, of course, there is the ever-popular mandate that no one except the end purchaser can remove a mattress tag.

Incredible, the state of West Virginia has rules that are very similar, right down to the tag-removal ban.

Obviously, the federal government has lots of resources to protect mattress buyers.

A bill introduced in the House of Delegates, HB 4350, would rescind the state mattress requirements. It should be enacted, removing one more layer of unnecessary bureaucracy.
