Punishment Lacking

A New Jersey woman who used a knife to intimidate two 4-year-olds pleaded guilty several days ago — and was placed on probation. Incredible.

Adetokunbo Akinnaso, 64, directed a child care center. When the two children were taken to her office for disciplinary reasons, she brandished a knife.

Akinnaso was removed from her job and arrested. But under a plea deal, she went free. She had to agree to never seek another job working with children.

Think about how you would have reacted if, at 4 years old, an adult had used a knife to intimidate you. Think about how your children or grandchildren would react.

Perhaps that is how they do things in New Jersey.

Not here, we trust.
