Turning a Corner On Drug Crimes?

Burglaries and thefts were down significantly last year in Steubenville, city police report. A total of 1,098 of the two crimes were reported in 2017. The number declined to 897 last year.

In releasing last year’s crime report, Police Chief Bill McCafferty pointed out, “I’d bet you at least one-third of (thefts) were due to drugs.”

Unfortunately, violent crime was up — more assaults and slightly more shots-fired calls.

But McCafferty is right.

Can it be that Steubenville may be turning a corner on drug crime?

Keep your fingers crossed.
