Press our leaders to help our veterans in need

This is in response to Frank Piverotto’s article, “Help Navy Veterans, Too.”

My family has been affected by Agent Orange exposure. My dad has stage 4, T-9 prostate cancer. He was located on the Gulf of Tonkin during the Vietnam War. We have a claim in for Agent Orange benefits, but because he didn’t step foot on land we are discouraged with how it’s all going to turn out.

It is true that all water used came directly from the ocean. One thing that wasn’t mentioned was that ocean water wasn’t only used for daily living, but was used without being desalinized in the washing of planes, decks, etc. So our servicemen were in direct contact with contaminated water.

House Bill HR812 has gone into committee three times and has yet to go to the floor of the House for a vote.

Please contact your senators and congressmen to get this passed. We all need to pull together to get compensation for these men who put their lives on the line for our country.

There is too much suffering of too many servicemen and women. Let’s take care of all of our veterans.
