Thanks for Helping

Editor, News-Register:

On May 4, a large crowd gathered to honor the life and sacrifice of Elm Grove native Captain David VanCamp, a true American hero who was killed in action on June 29, 2011 while serving n the U.S. Army in Badrah, Iraq. The support of the community was once again overwhelming and the event a huge success.

The monies raised will help in a variety of ways throughout the Valley. A scholarship will once again be awarded to a Wheeling Park High School senior baseball player. Donations will also be made to the West Virginia Wounded Warriors and the Patriot Guard of West Virginia. As this yearly event, and others throughout the year, grow, it is our hope to extend contributions to the Captain David VanCamp Ballfield at Patterson Recreation Park.

The Captain David VanCamp Foundation would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all of the sponsors, volunteers, and attendees who made the 2nd annual Captain David VanCamp steak fry such a huge success;
