Don’t Promote Homosexuality

Editor, News-Register:

This letter is written in reference to Senate Bill 472 and House Bill 2856 which were introduced in the 2014 West Virginia legislature. These bills actually encourage homosexual behavior under the guise of prohibiting discrimination against homosexuals in housing or employment.

If our government was truly interested in helping homosexuals, they would tell them what God says speaking through the apostle Paul in 1st Corinthians 6:9-11 – “that no homosexual shall inherit the kingdom of God.” However, the best part was what he said in verse 11 – “and such were some of you, but you are washed, bur you are sanctified, but you are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.” In other words, he told them their sin of homosexuality and its consequences, and then, that they were delivered or set free from the bondage of their sin.

How were they set free? As the apostle Peter says in II Peter 3:9, “The Lord … is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance,” which is turning away from something and turning to something else. We are set free by admitting our sins and turning from them whether they be lying, stealing, murder, adultery, fornication, selfishness, drunkenness, homosexuality, etc. and turning to Jesus. Yes, homosexuality, according to God, is a sin. Read Leviticus 18:22, 20:13, Jude 1:7, I Timothy 1:10-11, and Romans chapter 1.

As Peter said, God doesn’t want anyone to go to hell, but Jesus said in Matthew 7:13-14 that few would find life. Jesus said in John 17:3 that life eternal is that we might know the only true God and Jesus Christ. So, eternal life isn’t just living forever – because we all will live forever, either in heaven or in hell. But, God wants an intimate relationship with all of us, but our sin, mine and yours, was in the way. So, as Isaiah 53:6 says God sent His own son to pay for all of our sins. This is somewhat like a governor telling us he is pardoning us from prison because someone else had paid for our crime. Then, we would walk out from the prison bondage of shackles. But, if we didn’t believe him, we would still be in prison.

Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes unto the Father but by me.” John 1:1-14 says Jesus was the Word made flesh – in other words, all the Bible scripture is from Jesus, and as scripture says homosexuality is sin. But, if you don’t believe it is, then you can never be set free to have that eternal relationship with God.

So, if you promote homosexuality in any way you are an accomplice to help them continue on their way to hell which God gave His only Son to keep them out of hell. So, you’re either on God’s side or Satan’s.

Many, many people have been redeemed from homosexuality – even 2,000 years ago as Paul said in that 6th chapter of I Corinthians. I encourage you to visit the website of Dennis Jernigan, the famous Christian singer, pianist, and songwriter who came out of the homosexual lifestyle about 30 years ago. He’s been married about 27 years and has nine children.

Let us truly love all people by telling them God’s truth and not just our opinions. Jesus said in John 8:31, 32, “If you abide in my word, then are you my disciples indeed and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” Jesus can truly set us free from all evil desires if we simply believe. See Hebrews 11:6 and John 3:16 thru 21.
