Wheeling Needs Fewer Firefighters

The mayor talking about reduction of city employee jobs:

I think he should start with the fire department. Wheeling has 10 to 15 too many firemen for a city this size. And, then make them work shifts instead of 11 or 12 days a month.

Yes, it is dangerous, but only a few times a year. Look at what department has the most injuries. It’s not theirs.

Also, eliminate the North Wheeling firehouse. There is one on the Island less than one-half mile away.

Finally, tell the public how many calls you actually go on instead of counting every vehicle fender bender as a call.

They should work 25 years, not 20. That’s why police and fire pension is messed up.
