Cut Work Week to 30 Hours
Anymore it seems that computers are taking over everything. That’s good in a lot of ways and a little scary sometimes.
Since computers are taking over and reducing the number of jobs available, doesn’t it seem logical that we should reduce the standard work week? In France it is about 30 hours and in the Netherlands about 21 hours. So, my theory is that we should change the standard work week to about 30 hours. Heck, we can keep up with France! Of course to make up for fewer hours we would have to raise wages by about 30 percent.
This would certainly help with our unemployment problem. People would have jobs and, as a bonus, everyone would have more free time.
I wonder if the Republicans would vote for this.
