Thanks for Supporting Celebrate Youth Day

Editor, News-Register:

With the great and generous support of Wheeling Park and the Park Commission, Youth Services System organizes Celebrate Youth each year. This event brings youth and families to Wheeling Park for a free day of fun, helpful resources, entertainment and food. The community of people who attend — exhibitors, volunteers, Wheeling Park staff, youthful entertainers and the participants themselves — make this a great day.

This year, Celebrate Youth reminds me of my youth. When I, or one of my eight siblings, would bring someone home for dinner, my mother always found room for another plate or two. Celebrate Youth 2016 was set to last longer than in past years, with the goal of reaching families who could come out at the end of the work day. To do this, we needed to put out an extra plate. With the help of our generous Ohio Valley community, this happened.

Our deepest thanks go out to these partners for their support: Janet Roset and Wheeling Kiwanis Club; Michael Blackwell and the Lion’s Charities of Wheeling; Pastor Darrell W. Cummings and the Bethlehem Apostolic Temple; Connie Murray, Christ Lutheran Evangelical Church; Carla Barris and Roma Lee McConnell , Christ United Methodist Church; Pamela Nyles, Promised Land Compassionate Ministry, Martins Ferry; Sister Ellen Dunn , Delegate for the Office of Consecrated Life–Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston; Rev. Kenneth Hardway, First Christian Church; Linda Cochran; Presbyterian Women, First Presbyterian Church, Moundsville; Peggy Klages, Fourth Street United Methodist Church; Rev. William O. Webster, Jr. Grace Presbyterian Church, Martins Ferry; Rev. Mark Zelewicz, Relevant Worship Center, St. Clairsville; Lisa Weisha, Christian Mother & Ladies Guild, St. Alphonsus Parish; Father Cody Ford, St. Michael Church; Cheryl Donovan, St. Paul Evangelical Church; Betty Myers, Presbyterian Women, Vance Memorial Presbyterian Church; Sharon Miller, United Methodist Women, Warwood United Methodist Church.

In addition to these partners, I would like to thank Rodd Haller of Wheeling Office Supply, Jacob & Sons, Martins Ferry, and Wheeling Park-for their additional support-in feeding this community on August 4.

Each year we work with Wheeling Park, more than 60 exhibitors and our event sponsors to plan for Celebrate Youth. The response to this Celebrate Youth and the growth of the event is gratifying. Thanks to all of those who make this day possible.
