Township Trustee Backs Favede for Representative

Editor, News-Register:

I am supporting Ginny Favede for our representative in the 95th District.  As a former councilwoman and a current county commissioner for Belmont County, Ginny is well-aware of the needs and struggles of township trustees and their residents.

Township trustees are excellent examples of how to run a government with a small budget.  To make matters worse, our governor has built a “rainy day fund” with money taken from local governments, leaving townships with a monumental task of maintaining roads and cemeteries, providing fire and police protection in many cases, and making sure our roads are safe and passable in the winter.

Improvements, which our townships deserve, have taken a back seat to that rainy day fund.  Ginny’s opponent has done nothing to ask the governor or his cronies to give relief to our local governments.  If any money came back it was a very small amount that was a result of a law that limits the balance of the fund.  He claims he is high on economic development yet our area has been depleted of jobs except for Belmont County.

Guess who is the president of the Belmont County Board of Commissioners? That’s right, Ginny Favede. She has been recognized nationally for her efforts for development of jobs and businesses in our county. Our neighbors along the Ohio River have lost many jobs during her opponent’s tenure. Why go back to him for help?  If he would happen to win, this would be his last term and “lame-duck” reps usually sit back and figure out what their next move would be. Why wait, let’s send him packing this year.
